In a recent New York Times magazine, the 2013 “New York Super Doctors” were announced based on research conducted by Key Professional Media, Inc.. The following surgeons from Columbia University Medical Center’s Department of Neurosurgery made the esteemed roster:
- Robert A. Solomon, M.D., F.A.C.S., Department Chair from the Cerebrovascular Center
- Jeffrey N. Bruce, M.D., F.A.C.S. from the Brain Tumor Center
- Paul C. McCormick, M.D., M.P.H., F.A.C.S. from the Spine Center
- Donald O. Quest, M.D., F.A.C.S. from the Spine Center
- Michael B. Sisti, M.D., F.A.C.S. from the Gamma Knife Center
This list answers the question, “Who are the doctors’ doctors?” In other words, if your doctor needed to see a specialist, who would they choose to see. Physicians were nominated by their peers for Super Doctor status, then each nominee was vetted for their professional achievement and disciplinary history. A blue ribbon panel then reviewed that list again, the cream rose to the top, and voila! we have our “Super Doctors.”
